Riggs Abney has a highly qualified and widely respected Appellate practice working in all areas of civil, administrative and criminal appeals. Our appellate lawyers have decades of experience handling appeals in both state and federal courts. Many of the firm’s attorneys are admitted to practice before the highest courts in Oklahoma, as well as being admitted to the bar of a number of Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and the bar of the United States Supreme Court. Appellate practice is a distinct and very specialized area of law. When a party is aggrieved by the decision of a lower court or administrative body, often there is a right to appeal the lower court’s decision to a higher court, or the decision of an administrative body to the district court. The appellate process focuses on recognition and preservation of errors committed by a lower tribunal for presentation and argument to a higher court of review through the avenues of brief writing, motion and writ practice, and oral argument.
