SHARON K. WEAVER

Sharon K. Weaver is a shareholder in the firm’s Tulsa office. She serves in a number of practice areas, with a focus on civil litigation, appellate law and alternative dispute resolution.
Ms. Weaver participated in the preparation for the Oklahoma Supreme Court oral argument in the jail privatization case in 1999, which was the first to hold that a pre-trial detainee county jail could be operated by a private prison contractor. She has been a member of the team representing the Tulsa County Criminal Justice Authority since that time, and has worked on a number of appellate cases which have been approved for publication.
Ms Weaver earned a Juris Doctor from The University of Tulsa College of Law, and graduated with honors in 2000. In 1998, she graduated from Langston University with a degree in psychology and a minor in criminal justice. She began interning with Riggs Abney in the summer of 1999 — after her first year of law school. She is admitted to practice law in state and federal courts in Oklahoma as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Weaver is a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association and Federal Bar Association. She is a member of the Council of Appellate Lawyers of the American Bar Association and a member of the Rules Committee for the Council of Appellate Lawyers of the American Bar Association. She is also a trustee on the Sand Springs Development Authority, board member and founding member of the Sandite Team for Animal Rescue, and founder of the “I Am Unstoppable” scholarship for graduating Charles Page High School students.
